Delegate a Review

Review delegation allows a manager or supervisor to assign their review responsibilities to another eligible reviewer. This helps ensure reviews are completed on time when the original reviewer is unavailable or unable to complete the review.

Enable Review Delegation

For Administrators

During review cycle setup:

  1. Navigate to the darft cycle.

  2. Enable the Allow Delegation setting.

  3. Choose who would delegate the review

  4. Complete the remaining review cycle setup and publish the cycle.

Once enabled, managers participating in the review cycle can delegate their review responsibilities.

Delegate a Review as a Manager

Managers can delegate a review in one of two ways.

Option 1: Direct Delegation

Managers can directly assign the review to another eligible reviewer.

  1. Navigate to Performance Management dashboard and click on the cycle

  2. Open the assigned review.

  3. Select Delegate Review.

  4. Choose the new reviewer.

  5. Confirm the delegation.

The selected reviewer immediately becomes responsible for completing the review.

They can also re delegate to someone else if they want to.

Option 2: Nominate a Delegate for Approval

If the review cycle requires administrative approval for delegation:

  1. Open the assigned review.

  2. Select Delegate Review.

  3. Nominate the preferred reviewer.

  4. Submit the delegation request.

The request is sent to an administrator for review.

Review Delegation Requests as an Administrator

When a manager submits a delegation request, administrators can review and process it.

  1. Navigate to the Manage Reviews > review cycle and Actions Tab.

  2. Open the pending delegation requests.

  3. Select the request and click on view.

The administrator can then choose one of the following actions:

  • Approve the nominated reviewer by clicking on Delegate.

  • Override the nomination by selecting a different eligible reviewer.

Once approved, the selected reviewer becomes responsible for completing the review.

Multiple Delegations

A review can be delegated more than once.

If responsibilities need to change again during the review cycle, the current reviewer can delegate the review to another eligible reviewer, subject to the review cycle's delegation settings and approval workflow.

There is no limit to the number of times a review can be delegated.

Delegating an In-Progress Review

If a review has already been started before it is delegated:

  • Any responses already entered are automatically saved as a Draft.

  • The draft responses are transferred to the newly assigned reviewer.

  • The new reviewer can continue from where the previous reviewer left off without losing any work.

This ensures review progress is preserved throughout the delegation process.

Things to Know

  • Review delegation is available only if it has been enabled during review cycle setup.

  • Managers can either delegate directly or submit a delegate nomination for administrator approval, depending on the review cycle configuration.

  • Administrators can approve the nominated delegate or assign a different reviewer.

  • Reviews can be delegated multiple times during a review cycle.

  • Draft responses are preserved and carried forward whenever an in-progress review is delegated.
