Sample Example: Score Calculation in a Performance Review

This example demonstrates how scores are calculated when combining template weights, process weights, and cycle configuration.

Updated today

Template Configuration

The template includes:

  • Questions: 50%

    • 2 scaled questions (1–5 scale)

    • Each question weight = 50% within Questions

  • Goals (Creation): 50%

Cycle Configuration

  • Scoring Components Enabled:

    • Employee Score

    • Goal Creation

  • Review Processes:

    • Manager Review → 70% weight

    • Self Review → 30% weight

Step 1: Template-Level Score Calculation (Per Review Process)

Each review process (Self and Manager) independently calculates a score based on the template.

1. Question Score Calculation (50% of total)

Since there are 2 questions:

  • Each question contributes 25% to total score
    (50% ÷ 2 = 25%)

Question

Score (1–5)

Normalized Score (%)

Q1

4

80%

Q2

5

100%

Weighted Question Score:

  • Q1 → 80% × 25% = 20%

  • Q2 → 100% × 25% = 25%

Total Question Contribution = 45%

2. Goal Creation Score (50% of total)

Assume goal creation is scored as:

  • Manager assigns: 90%

  • Self assigns: 80%

Final Template Score per Process

Manager Review Score

  • Questions: 45%

  • Goals: 90% × 50% = 45%

Manager Total = 45% + 45% = 90%

Self Review Score

  • Questions: 45%

  • Goals: 80% × 50% = 40%

Self Total = 45% + 40% = 85%

Step 2: Apply Process Weights

Now apply the cycle-level weights:

  • Manager: 70%

  • Self: 30%

Weighted Scores

  • Manager → 90% × 70% = 63%

  • Self → 85% × 30% = 25.5%

Step 3: Final Score Calculation

Add weighted contributions:

Final Score = 63% + 25.5% = 88.5%

Final Result

  • Manager Score: 90%

  • Self Score: 85%

  • Final Weighted Score: 88.5%
