Using Goals within Paychex Flex® Engage
Goals can be made on an Individual, Team, Department, or Company Level.
Note: Individual Goals have the ability to be made Private.
Goals within Paychex Flex® Engage have the ability to be aligned with one another. This is best used when a specific goal is in relation to another Goal.
Individual Goals
Each employee within the platform can set their own Individual Goals. These goals can be marked as private, in which case they will only be visible to the employee, their manager, and their manager's manager.
Individual goals that are not marked as private will be displayed in the Current Goals section on the employee's profile.
Team Goals
Team goals function similarly to department goals. They are visible to the entire organization, with employees linked to a specific team having a default view of their own team's goals. To view goals for other teams, use the dropdown menu to select a different team.
Department Goals
Department Goals are also accessible to the entire organization. When an employee clicks on the Department Goals tab, they will automatically see the goals for their specific department within the platform. However, employees can view goals for other departments by using the dropdown menu to select a different department.
Company Goals
Company Goals are objectives that pertain to the entire organization. These goals will be visible to all employees, offering insight into the company's aspirations and achievements.
Example of a Personal Goal Aligned to a Department Goal
Our employee "Collin" has been given the goal of "Enhancing the Customer Onboarding Experience".
When creating the Individual Goal, Collin aligned this goal to a goal that his Department is currently working on, titled "Elevate Customer Satisfaction Levels".
Aligning a goal is done when creating the Goal, it can also be done after the Goal has been created by clicking Edit Goal.
When viewing the Department Goal, you will see that Collin has a Personal Goal aligned to that specific Department Goal.
As Collin works on completing his Personal Goal, the Department goal will update on his progress.
For example, Collin has created and distributed two (2) onboarding guides thus far out of his total goal of creating and distributing a total of eight (8) onboarding guides.
Now when navigating to the Department Goal, you are able to see the completion percentage has adjusted accordingly, based on Collin’s progress.
If you have set a weight to the Goal, this will factor in how much progress has been made in regard to completing the overall goal.
How to Update Progress in Goals
Login to your Paychex Flex® Engage account.
Click on Goals on the left-hand menu.
The Goals page will display Individual, Team, Department, or Company Goals.
Navigate to the goal you wish to update progress on.
If the goal’s calculation is set to Manual, you can slide the progress bar to provide a completion percentage.
If the goal has Key Results attached to them, the progress from the Key results will factor into the overall goal completion.
Key results can be tracked by a percentage, Target/Metric or binary (true or false).
