Every message includes a timestamp, adjusted to each employee’s local time zone, so you always know exactly when it was sent.

Typing Indicators
Know when another employee is actively typing a reply.
Add/Remove Users from Groups or Channels
Group and channel owners can add/remove members to keep discussions relevant and secure.
Note: Users do not receive a notification when they are removed.
Delete Obsolete Groups/Channels
Messaging Admins can permanently delete channels and group chats that are no longer needed. This helps declutter the interface and keeps conversations organized.
Profanity Filters
A profanity filter automatically censors inappropriate language in real-time. Any offensive terms are masked with asterisks (e.g., “****”), ensuring conversations remain professional without disrupting the user experience.
Conversation Types
Paychex Flex® Engage supports multiple conversation formats to meet different communication needs:
Direct Messages
One-on-one messages between employees for private communication.
Group Direct Messages
Private group conversations. When a new member is added, a new group conversation is created to protect past message history.
Private Channels
Invite-only group conversations. New members can view the full conversation history once added. Best for ongoing topics that require visibility for new participants.
Public Channels
Open to all employees. Any employee can join from the channel list.
Note: Public and Private channels can be distinguished by the lock icon, which indicates a private channel.

Web Notifications & Daily Email Summaries
Stay updated even when you’re not logged into chat.
Web Notifications: Get real-time alerts through the web.Daily Email Summaries: Receive a recap of unread messages across all conversations, so nothing slips through the cracks.
Note: Users must configure their preferences using the bell icon in the platform.
Message Retention
Messages remain visible for up to 6 months from the time they were sent.
All messages are permanently retained in the system for compliance and review purposes. To access older messages beyond the 6-month visibility window, please contact your Service Representative.
